Do the math: CPM15 Jan

The following numbers are approximate, but you’ll get the idea quickly:

Prime-Time television: $50-75
Cable television: $10-30
Online: $5-50 (still shaking out)
iTunes: $2000

A show that costs $1m per episode, can be possible with an iTunes viewership of 500,000. Add in some product placement to substitute for commericals, and there’s a healthy revenue stream there. With well over 60 million iPods sold, there’s a market in place, and it’s going to grow. (Plus, what happens when iTV hits?)

So the next question is, how does an independent producer get "into" iTunes?
