Sissy (via my Mom)01 Aug
Another beautiful fur baby crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. Sissy came to us April 16, 2007 nearer death than life. She weighed 33 pounds and had a large ulcerated mass on her back, there was no life left in her eyes. Her fur was covered in urine and feces and she had to be shaved. We decided to give her a few days. She began to eat and little by little came to life. Her tests were positive for cancer but we thought she could have a few weeks to enjoy being pampered. Well, Sissy gained weight and grew the most magnificent soft coat. About a year ago she stopped biting me when I brushed her. She ruled the house and when she was in a bad mood the others would walk around her. She topped the scales at 68 pounds and loved every nibble and biscuit of it. We decided long ago that she could be fat and never denied her a treat. Yesterday we made the decision to let her go and made the appointment. This morning I gave her water and washed her beautiful face and mouth. Ten minutes later she slipped away to be with all the other pieces of our hearts that reside at the bridge. Here’s Sissy when she came to us and the beautiful fur baby she became. We appreciate her final favor so we never have to question if we put her to sleep too soon or too late. She went in her own time.
